Trek 03 Chichester Forest (Dungog to Dungog Camping Weekend)

Round trip from Dungog 86Kms with 15Kms of optional side trips

Saturdy 11 - 13 June 2016 Camped overnight at the Currawong campground

Entry to Currawong Camp Ground

Entrace to the campground is listed as 4WD access only, however you could brave the above river to stay here without 4wd as opposed to camping at the busier Telegherry campsite just before the crossing

Currawong Camp Ground

Oz Trail cruise 300+ tent was easy to erect and soon we were settled in

Currawong Camp Ground

Campfire blazing away, we broke out the trusty camp oven and started off our beef roast with baked veges, did I say we went camping, maybe this was actually glamping!

Redheads BBQ fuel from Coles $9.90 were definatly helpful in saving time getting the camp oven dinner cooked. Didn't have to wait for coals to build up and they kept the heat really well.

Telegherry Creek

The Telegherry creek that runs past the campground would be great to cool off in during the warmer months.

On Sunday we drove the rest of the trek route with a side trip to Chichester Dam (4 hours ) struggled a bit with the directions in the book. Had to stop a few times to clear fallen tree debris from the track, we were being followed by another vehilce that chatted to us that they were having the same problems with the trek info. The girl actually worked for the publisher of 4WD Treks Close the Sydney-Boiling Billy publications, she suggested that we email them to let them know as they would appreciate the feedback.

Jeruselem creek, unfortunately Puddle Jumper picked up a branch here, it got wedged between the right-hand exhaust pipe, popped out the reversing light. Not sure if this is a battle scar, self inflicted wound or a badge of achievement
