Trek 6 Lost City to Newnes

We started this trek from Zig Zag railway at Clarence. A short drive brings you to a T intersection with the Glowworm Tunnel Rd. We turned right onto this and travel a short distance to the junction with Maiyngu Marragu Trail on the left. Down this trail we turned off to go to the Lost City. The track to the Lost City deteriorated the further we went. We had to detour off the track several time with some steep descents. Towards the end of the track we came to Snow Gum Flora Reserve where we could not get passed.
We headed back the way we had come but were unable to climb one of the steep sections. After several attempts we discussed our options, we decided to backtrack and try several other track. After a very wet and muddy exit we where back on Maiyngu Marragu Trail. We believe we took the wrong (hard) entry to the Lost City and did not get to the Lost City.
We followed Maiyngu Marragu Trail to the end where there was a nice lookout.
After getting lost we returned to the junction of Hand Trail (should have been Blackfellow hand trail but I think the top of the sign had been removed).
After another long, wet and muddy trail we arrived at Maiyngu Marragu rock. After a short walk we arrived at the historical site where hands have been stencilled onto the rock. These are believed to be 500 years old.
From here we drove for 20 minutes to Newnes. We checked out 2 of the 3 camp site. We then made a coffee in the car park across the road from the historical Newnes Hotel at around 5.00pm. It was a nice coffee!
This was a very trying drive with some missed turns and backtracking. It was also a long day due to the backtracking. I would like to do this track again and get to the Lost City.
